Why Diversion Matters to SISW

Waste diversion is the practice of keeping useful materials out of the landfill through recycling, reuse, and special waste programs. By separating items like wood waste, scrap metal, batteries, and household hazardous waste, we can extend the life of the landfill, reduce transportation and disposal costs, conserve resources, and help keep our communities clean and safe.

When less waste is buried, it helps reduce long-term costs for the entire community and helps keep future disposal rates as low as possible. SISW needs the community’s help to keep these materials out of the regular waste stream. Every item diverted today helps save money, protect resources, and support a cleaner, safer Southern Idaho.
