Sump Waste Acceptance Policy

FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN LOAD REFUSAL

The Southern Idaho Solid Waste District (SISW) accepts sump waste at the Milner Butte Landfill, Hub Butte Special Waste Facility, and Ohio Gulch Transfer Station. Acceptance is dependent on the review of the waste profile and lab data, which is representative of the sump waste. SISW has the right to refuse loads and/or require additional testing. Loads are also subject to random load inspections.

Requirements:

1) Representative samples of sump waste shall, at a minimum, be analyzed by an approved laboratory for the following characteristics:

  • Flashpoint/Ignitability
  • 8-Metal Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP)
  • pH
  • Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH)

2) An SISW Waste Profile must be completed by the generator and submitted to SISW with the lab analysis. Additional testing may be required depending on the nature of the waste.

3) If the sump waste is accepted, SISW will assign a profile number      and provide the generator with an SISW Waste Approval Form.

4) Each load must be accompanied by a completed SISW Waste Transport Form with the corresponding profile number.

5) Sump Waste must be placed where directed by SISW personnel.
