Septage and Grease Trap Disposal Policy

The Southern Idaho Solid Waste District (SISW) accepts septage and grease trap waste at the Milner Butte Landfill, Hub Butte Special Waste Facility, and Ohio Gulch Transfer Station. Grease Trap Waste is only accepted from sources within the district. SISW has the right to refuse loads and/or require additional testing. As part of our random load inspection program, SISW may check the load for hazardous waste without prior notice.

Requirements:

  1. The waste must not be mixed with any other type of waste.
  2. The waste must be free of any hazardous waste. This includes EPA-listed waste and/or characteristic hazardous wastes, which are: ignitable, corrosive, reactive, or toxic. The acceptable pH range is between 2.0 and 12.5. Waste with a pH range outside of these parameters will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of the hauler to ensure that the waste is not hazardous.
  3. A completed SISW Septage & Grease Trap Form must accompany each load. Every field on the form must be completed prior to acceptance.
  4. Only pumpers licensed through the Health District will be allowed to utilize our sites.
  5. Pumpers will place septage and grease trap waste where directed by SISW personnel.
