Burned Material Acceptance Policy
FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN LOAD REFUSAL
Accepting burned material puts our employees and the public at risk if not disposed of properly. Burned material may be accepted at the Milner Butte Landfill and each transfer station as long as all steps of this policy are followed.
- Each load of burned material must be accompanied by proof that the fire occurred a minimum of 1 week prior to disposal for Milner Butte Landfill or 6 weeks prior to disposal for transfer stations.
- A 24-hour notice must be given by the customer to the Transfer Station or the Milner Butte Landfill to prepare for delivery.
- Transfer stations will be limited to accepting two loads per day per customer. Milner Butte Landfill will only accept as many loads as can be processed on that day. Fees will apply regardless of the delivery container.
- All loads will be inspected by SISW employees upon arrival. No smoldering or smoking loads will be accepted.
- If any special arrangements are needed, please contact the EHS Specialist at the number below.
- Barrels and other containers that are used specifically for burning garbage will not be accepted under this policy. Burned material of this nature must be placed in a plastic bag or cardboard box at an off-site location in order to be accepted.
