The Southern Idaho Solid Waste District (SISW) accepts asbestos at the Milner Butte Landfill and the Hub Butte Special Waste Facility. Federal and State regulations require the following:

• The customer must obtain an up-to-date policy and blank SISW Asbestos Waste Shipment Record from SISW prior to beginning an abatement project.
• Asbestos must be properly contained and not break open upon impact during the unloading process:
  • Friable asbestos must be contained in twelve-mil plastic (double-wrapped or bagged in six-mil plastic is standard practice), wetted, and properly labeled.
  • Non-Friable Asbestos must be contained in twelve-mil plastic (double-wrapped or bagged in six-mil plastic is standard practice) and properly labeled.
• Hauler must coordinate with SISW a minimum of 24 hours prior to shipment.
• A completed SISW Asbestos Waste Shipment Record must accompany each load. Every field on the form must be completed prior to acceptance.
• Hauler must place asbestos where directed by SISW personnel.
